When creating mail folders in K-State webmail, your newly created folder may not have ended up where you expected it to be. While you may have wanted the folder to be a top-level folder on the same level and hierarchy as your Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam, and Trash folders, it instead became a sub-folder of the Inbox. And even worse, you can’t figure out how to move it!

Below are the ways to:

  • Create a top-level mail folder
  • Move a sub-folder to the top level

Create a top-level mail folder

  1. Sign in to K-State webmail at webmail.ksu.edu.
  2. Click the New Folder button located on the left side, above the Folders column.
  3. Type a name for your folder.
  4. VERY IMPORTANT: In the Select where to place the new folder box, click the name Folders to place the new folder on the same level as the Inbox rather than as a sub-folder of the Inbox. Folders will now be highlighted in a very light, almost invisible gray box.
  5. Click the OK button. Your folder is now created on the same level as the Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam, and Trash folders — and should display next to a yellow folder icon.

Move a sub-folder to the top level

  1. Right-click the folder name.
  2. Click the Move link.
  3. VERY IMPORTANT: In the Select destination folder box, click the name Folders to place the new folder on the same level as the Inbox rather than as a sub-folder of the Inbox. Folders will now be highlighted in a very light, almost invisible gray box.
  4. Click the OK button. Your folder is now moved to the same level as the Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Spam, and Trash folders.

Now that you have your folder created (or moved to the right location), you can easily create mail filters to help you further organize your e-mail.

Note: Changing the light gray highlight to a darker and more noticeable color is planned for a future K-State Zimbra update.
