Zimbra Weekly: Create and e-mail saved groups
You can easily create and e-mail saved groups of e-mail addresses, known as contact groups, in K-State Zimbra. Contact groups are helpful when e-mailing a set group of individuals. When you send an e-mail to the contact group, everyone whose address is included in the group list is automatically added to the address field of the message. Contact groups are for your use only and have no special properties. If you need administrative properties such as list management, you will want to create a LISTSERV mailing list using the K-State LISTSERV system.
How to create a contact group:
- Sign in to the K-State Zimbra web client at webmail.ksu.edu.
- Select the Contacts tab.
- On the toolbar, click New and select New Contact Group. The New Contact Group form is displayed.
- In the Group Name field, type the name of this group list.
- To add members to this group, in the Find field, type a name and then select whether to search in the GAL or in your personal and shared contacts. Click Search. You can also add e-mail addresses directly in the Group Members list box. Typed addresses can be separated by a comma (,), semicolon (;) or a Return to start the address on a new line.
- Names that match your entry are listed in the box below. Select the names to enter and click Add. The names are added to the Group Members list.
- Click Save on the toolbar. The new group contact is added to your address book.
