At 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, K-State will begin migrating all e-mail and mail folders on the central e-mail servers to K-State Zimbra.  The migration is expected to be completed by Sunday evening, May 31. During the migration, K-State e-mail will be unavailable, and K-Staters will not be able to send or receive any K-State mail. No mail will be lost.

After the migration is complete, sign in to K-State Zimbra by going to webmail.ksu.edu. Those who use a local e-mail client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Mac Mail) or a mobile device (Blackberry, iPhone, etc.) should first sign in to the K-State Zimbra web client at webmail.ksu.edu BEFORE accessing their e-mail with their local client or mobile device.  Check the status of the migration on the K-State Zimbra website.

What’s migrating

  • All e-mail and folders on K-State’s central e-mail servers. When you sign in to K-State Zimbra for the first time, you will see all your e-mail and folders.
  • E-mail forward settings saved in eProfile. If you currently have your K-State e-mail forwarded, it will continue to be forwarded after the migration.

What’s NOT migrating

  • WebMail address book. Export your WebMail address book prior to the start of the migration. K-State Zimbra offers a Global Address List (GAL) that contains the e-mail addresses of all K-Staters.  If your WebMail address book only contains K-Staters, you may not need to export it since the Global Address List will contain the same contacts.
  • WebMail distribution lists. We recommend that you print your distribution lists prior to the start of the migration. You can recreate them in K-State Zimbra as contact groups or create mailing lists on the K-State LISTSERV system.
  • Mail filters saved in eProfile. You will need to recreate your mail filters in K-State Zimbra.
  • Spam-filter settings saved in eProfile. Spam filtering is done automatically for you by K-State Zimbra.
  • Mail saved in your local e-mail client. Mail that you have saved only in your local e-mail client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Mac Mail) will stay in your local client.
