Zimbra Weekly: No changes to e-mail and eID policies
Note: This weekly post serves to detail Zimbra features; update the K-State community with new project information; and answer questions submitted via InfoTech Tuesday and the K-State Zimbra website.
The university migration to K-State Zimbra will NOT have any effect on the current official e-mail and eID policies and procedures. No changes to the e-mail and eID policies are planned with regard to K-State Zimbra.
When a K-Stater leaves the university, they are encouraged to forward their e-mail through their eProfile and copy any e-mail messages or folders they want to keep. K-Staters can keep their eID active by turning e-mail forwarding on and by changing their eID password within five years.
Once a K-Stater is no longer enrolled at, employed by, or associated with K-State, the university will notify them via their K-State e-mail address that access to their e-mail and other resources is going to be removed. They then have two weeks to make any copies needed. After their access has been removed, there is a $50 fee for one week of access to copy any data.
180 days after their student or employee affiliation with K-State ends, their files, personal webpage, and e-mail associated with their eID will be destroyed and removed from the central backup systems.
See the Preparing to Leave K-State website for more information. Remember, e-mail and eID policies and procedures are not changing when the university migrates to K-State Zimbra during the weekend of May 29-31.
