Beginning 6 p.m. Friday, May 29, K-State will start migrating all central e-mail to K-State Zimbra. The migration should be completed Sunday evening, May 31. K-State central e-mail will be unavailable during the migration. The K-State Zimbra website will be updated throughout the weekend with the current status of the migration.

Before 6 p.m. this Friday, complete the following, if applicable:

  1. Double-check your configuration settings if you use a local mail client or mobile device.  Make sure your settings match the official K-State configuration settings.
  2. Export your WebMail address book. K-State Zimbra offers a Global Address List (GAL) that contains the e-mail addresses of all K-Staters. If your WebMail address book only contains K-Staters, you may not want to export it since the Global Address List will contain the same contacts.

After the migration is complete:

  1. Sign into K-State Zimbra by going to webmail.ksu.edu. If you use a local client or a mobile device, first sign in to the K-State Zimbra web client at webmail.ksu.edu BEFORE accessing your e-mail with your local client or mobile device. The web client is the simplest way to confirm your access to K-State Zimbra, because the web client does not require any manual configuration or setup to work.
  2. Empty your “Trash” folder in the K-State Zimbra web client. This will ensure that the number of unread messages is displayed properly. Move messages you wish to keep to another folder, as this action will permanently delete all messages in your “Trash” folder.

If you have any questions, contact the IT Help Desk (helpdesk@k-state.edu, 785-532-7722). You may also attend one of the K-State Zimbra open question-and-answer sessions scheduled June 12 and June 19.

Remember to beware of e-mail scams as we begin this e-mail transition.  K-State will never ask for your eID password.

Go to the K-State Zimbra website to read frequently asked questions and to send comments to the K-State Zimbra project team.
