Note: This weekly post serves to answer questions submitted via InfoTech Tuesday and K-State’s Zimbra website; update the K-State community with new project information; and detail Zimbra features.

Tags are a way in Zimbra to classify and organize your e-mail messages, contacts, tasks, calendar events, and files in your briefcase with names and colors.  For example, you might create tags for priority levels such as Low and Urgent, or create tags related to a particular project.  You may even create tags to distinguish between personal and work-related items.

  • You can create as many tags as you want.
  • You can apply multiple tags to the same item.
  • You can search for a tag and all items with that tag are displayed, no matter which folder they are in.
  • Mail messages that are tagged can be in different folders.

To see tagging in action, watch the short flash video, Zimbra Tour. Under Topic Index, select Inbox, Mail, & Search.

Go to the Zimbra E-Mail and Calendaring Collaboration Suite website to read frequently asked questions and to send comments to the K-State Zimbra project team.
