Zimbra Weekly: Transferring e-mail folders
Note: This weekly post serves to answer questions submitted via InfoTech Tuesday and K-State’s Zimbra website; update the K-State community with new project information; and detail Zimbra features.
Will all of my WebMail folders be transferred to Zimbra e-mail?
Yes. All e-mail on K-State’s IMAP server, and e-mail folders created on the IMAP server, will be migrated. Folders created with WebMail reside on the IMAP server and will be migrated. E-mail folders created with locally installed clients, such as Outlook or Thunderbird, will be migrated if the folders reside on the IMAP server. These clients have the ability to also create folders locally on the computer the e-mail client is installed on.
Folders residing on local computers will not be migrated. This e-mail is still accessible to K-Staters using the e-mail client they created their folders with.
Self-contained e-mail systems such as GroupWise and Exchange are not part of the initial e-mail migration and will not be affected. GroupWise and Exchange e-mail repositories will be migrated later at the request of those owners.
